Hattoria yakushimensis adalah satu-satunya spesies lumut hati dalam genus Hattoria, yang termasuk dalam famili Anastrophyllaceae. Spesies ini endemik di Jepang. Habitat alaminya adalah hutan beriklim sedang. Spesies ini terancam oleh kehilangan habitat.[1]

Nama genus Hattoria diambil untuk menghormati Sinsuke (Sinske, Shinsuke) Hattori (1915-1992), seorang ahli botani (briologi) Jepang dan Profesor Botani di Universitas Tokyo.[4]
