Jaringan silaturahmi

Jaringan silaturahmi [1][2](bahasa Inggris: hospitality exchange network) adalah komunitas atau jejaring sosial yang bertujuan untuk memberikan akomodasi kepada wisatawan atau petualang, umumnya di rumah penduduk lokal.[3][4][5] Konsep jaringan pertukaran tempat untuk menginap sudah ada sejak tahun 1949 dimulai oleh organisasi bernama Servas yang didirikan oleh Bob Luitweiler,[5] menggunakan buletin dan telepon, dan pada tahun 1990-an organisasi-organisasi jaringan silaturahmi mulai beralih menggunakan Internet. Kini, situs web jejaring sosial jaringan silaturahmi terbesar adalah CouchSurfing, Hospitality Club dan BeWelcome [6]

Sejarah

Organisasi jaringan silaturahmi pertama yang diakui oleh dunia internasional, terdaftar sebagai salah satu organisasi Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa, adalah Servas, yang didirikan oleh Bob Luitweiler pada tahun 1949,[5] sebagai organisasi nirlaba yang pada waktu itu hanya bergantung pada pergerakan anggota sukarelawan dengan membawa misi perdamaian dunia. Kemudian pada tahun 1965 John Wilcock mulai mengumpulkan banyak data dari para tuan rumah saat ia menginap di rumah mereka dalam perjalanannya, mendirikan Traveler's Directory. Ia kemudian mengajak para wisatawan lain yang ditemuinya agar membuka penginapan bagi sesama petualang sebagai tuan rumah. Pada tahun 1988, Joy Lily membentuk organisasi silaturahmi bernama Hospitality Exchange.

Pada tahun 2000 Hospitality Club didirikan oleh Veit Kühne, sebagai salah satu jaringan silahturahmi pertama yang menggunakan media Internet. Pada tahun 2004, Casey Fenton mendirikan situs CouchSurfing.[7] CouchSurfing kini dianggap sebagai salah satu organisasi yang membuat konsep jaringan silahturahmi populer di masyarakat luas (mainstream).[5] [8]

Manfaat

Keuntungan terbesar menggunakan jaringan silaturahmi adalah pertukaran kebudayaan.[3][4] Bagi para petualang pengguna organisasi jaringan silatuahmi, setiap perjalanan mengantarkan mereka mengenal lebih jauh dan mengalami langsung cara hidup masyarakat lokal, dan sebaliknya pula dirasakan dampak positif bagi masyarakat lokal itu sendiri.

Jaringan silaturahmi menjadi salah satu cara berpetualang yang sangat membantu secara ekonomi, karena para petualang dapat menemukan tempat tinggal secara murah bahkan cuma-cuma ditempat yang mereka kunjungi.[4][9]
