Jean Chacornac

Jean Chacornac (21 Juni 1823 – 6 September 1873[1]) adalah seorang astronom asal Prancis.

Jean Chacornac (21 Juni 1823 – 6 September 1873[1]) adalah seorang astronom asal Prancis.

Dia bekerja di Marseille dan Paris di mana ia menemukan enam buah asteroid. Masyarakat juga pernah mengumumkan penemuan satu buah asteroid lainnya oleh Chacornac di Marseille, 20 Massalia, pada 20 September 1852. Namun sebenarnya Annibale de Gasparis sudah menemukan asteroid tersebut satu hari sebelum Chacornac menemukannya.

Asteroid 1622 Chacornac dan kawah Chacornac di Bulan dinamai sebagai penghormatan kepadanya.
