Famili Notopteridae merupakan sekelompok ikan bersirip kipas yang dikenal sebagai ikan dengan punggung berbentuk pisau (Inggris: knifefish atau featherback). Terdapat tujuh jenis anggotanya yang dapat digolongkan dalam empat genera.
Ikan-ikan ini hidup di air tawar serta air payau di benua Afrika dan Asia Tenggara. Sirip punggung pendek (tidak ada pada Xenomystus) berbentuk bulu, dengan sirip dubur memanjang dan mungkin menyambung dengan sirip ekor. Sirip perut (bila ada) hanya kecil, dengan 3-6 ruas. Bila ikan masih kecil populer sebagai ikan akuarium, dan bila besar dipajang di akuarium besar. Beberapa anggotanya dapat dimakan, termasuk ikan belida (Chitala lopis).
