Okura Hotels & Resorts (オークラ ホテルズ & リゾーツ) adalah sebuah jaringan hotel yang mayoritas berada di Jepang. Hotel Okura yang asli dibuka di Tokyo pada tahun 1962. Jaringan internasional Okura Hotels & Resorts meliputi Okura Hotels, antara lain di Amsterdam, Shanghai, Honolulu, Makau, Bangkok, dan Taipei.[1] Okura Hotels juga memiliki jaringan Hotel JAL City dan Nikko Hotels.[2][3]

Sejarah

Okura Hotels sebelumnya bernama Taisei Kanko Co. Ltd., sebuah perusahaan yang didirikan pada tahun 1958. Empat tahun kemudian, perusahaan ini menjadi pemilik dan pengelola Hotel Okura Tokyo, sebuah hotel mewah yang didesain oleh arsitek Yoshiro Taniguchi.[4] Pendiri perusahaan ini, Kishichiro Okura, berencana untuk membangun sebuah perusahaan perhotelan mewah yang menyuguhkan unsur arsitektur Jepang.[5]

Taisei Kanko berkembang dengan dibukanya restoran Okura di Nagoya pada tahun 1966,[4] disusul dengan perluasan di benua Eropa dengan dibukanya Hotel Okura Amsterdam pada tahun 1971.[6] Taisei Kanko secara resmi menjadi sebuah jaringan hotel pada tahun 1978.[5] Pada tahun 1979, mereka bekerja sama dengan Hotel Shilla, salah satu anak usaha Samsung, untuk mengembangkan bisnis mereka di Korea Selatan.

Pada tahun 1987, Taisei Kanko mengganti nama mereka menjadi Hotel Okura Co. Ltd.[5] Setelah berkembang di pasar domestik pada tahun 1980-an, mereka mendobrak pasar Tiongkok dengan dibukanya Garden Hotel di Shanghai pada tahun 1990.[7]

Pada tahun 2006, Okura Hotels menjalin kerja sama pemasaran dengan Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, disusul dengan kerja sama serupa dengan Rihga Royal Hotels pada tahun 2008.[8]

Pada tahun 2010, Okura Hotels membeli mayoritas saham JAL Hotels dari Japan Airlines. JAL Hotels membawahi merek-merek Hotel JAL City (jaringan hotel menengah yang sebagian besar berada di Jepang) dan Nikko Hotels (jaringan hotel mewah yang awalnya dipusatkan di pasar internasional).[9] Dua tahun kemudian, hotel pertama dengan gelar The Okura Prestige, hotel mewah yang ditargetkan untuk pasar internasional, dibuka di Bangkok.[10]

Pada tahun 2015, Okura Hotels mendirikan Okura Nikko Hotel Management untuk mengelola keseluruhan properti hotel mereka, termasuk hotel-hotel bergelar Okura, Nikko, dan JAL City.[11]
