Program Mars Scout

Program Scout Mars adalah sebuah inisiatif NASA untuk mengirimkan serangkaian kecil, murah misi robot ke Mars, yang dipilih secara kompetitif dari proposal inovatif oleh komunitas ilmiah. Program ini memiliki sebuah array dari misi ditakdirkan untuk mencapai Mars, dan mempelajarinya dengan biaya yang relatif rendah. Setiap biaya untuk proyek Scout adalah kurang dari US $ 485 juta. Pendarat Phoenix[1] dan pengorbit MAVEN dipilih dan dikembangkan sebelum program pensiun pada tahun 2010.[2]
