Prostesis

Prostesis (dari bahasa Yunani Kuno prósthesis, "tambahan, tempelan")[1] adalah alat buatan yang menyerupai bentuk bagian tubuh untuk menggantikan bagian tubuh tersebut yang hilang atau rusak akibat trauma, penyakit, atau kondisi prakelahiran.[2]

Prostetik telah ada sejak lama. Catatan paling awal mengenai prostetik dapat ditemukan di Regweda, kitab Hindu yang diyakini ditulis antara tahun 3500 dan 1800 SM.[3]
