Ronald Lawrence "Ron" Kovic (kelahiran 4 Juli 1946) adalah seorang aktivis dan penulis anti-perang Amerika yang menjadi sersan Korps Marinir Amerika Serikat, yang terluka dan lumpuh dalam Perang Vietnam. Ia pling dikenal sebagai pengarang memoir Born on the Fourth of July pada 1976, yang dibuat dalam sebuah film pemenang penghargaan Oscar pada 1989 yang disutradarai oleh Oliver Stone, dengan Tom Cruise memerankan Kovic.[1]
Kehidupan awal
Kovic lahir di Ladysmith, Wisconsin, sebagai anak tertua kedua dari enam bersaudara [2] dari pasangan Patricia (Lamb) dan Eli Kovic.[3] Ia dibesarkan di Massapequa, New York, dalam sebuah rumah tangga Katolik Roma. Ayahnya yang merupakan keturunan Kroasia diberi kehormatan untuk bertugas dalam Angkatan Laut Amerika Serikat pada Perang Dunia Kedua.
