Spliseosom merupakan kompleks ribonukleoprotein (RNP) yang disusun di Pre-mRNA untuk menghilangkan intron.[1] Ribonukleoprotein ini tersusun atas 5 kelompok komponen utama, yaitu RNP yang memiliki banyak senyawa uridina, seperti (U1, U2, U4, U5, and U6 ribonukleoprotein inti kecil (snRNP)), Nine Teen Complex (NTC) dan kompleks yang berhubungan dengan NTC (NTR), faktor penyalinan, RNA-dependent ATPase/helikase yang bergantung dengan RNA serta protein regulator dan tambahan, seperti kinase/fosfatase dan peptidil prolil isomerase (PPIs).[2] Mayoritas eukariota memiliki dua jenis spliseosome yang unik, yaitu spliseosom bergantung U2 yang berfungsi mengkatalisasi reaksi penghilangan intron tipe U2 dan spliseosom bergantung U12 yang hanya ada di ebberapa jenis eukariota dan berfungsi menyalin tipe intron U12 [3]
