Sumber sekunder adalah istilah yang digunakan dalam historiografi untuk merujuk pada karya sejarah yang ditulis berdasarkan pada sumber-sumber primer dan biasanya dengan merujuk pula pada sumber-sumber sekunder lainnya. Hampir semua tulisan ilmiah yang diterbitkan sekarang adalah sumber sekunder. Sumber sekunder ideal biasanya mengandung laporan peristiwa pada masa lampau berikut generalisasi, analisis, sintesis, interpretasi, dan atau evaluasi terhadap peristiwa tersebut.
