Sycopsis adalah genus tumbuhan dalam famili Hamamelidaceae. Genus ini mencakup tiga spesies yang berasal dari Tiongkok tengah dan selatan,[1][2] Assam, dan Taiwan.[3]

Karakteristik

Sycopsis adalah semak atau pohon kecil yang selalu hijau[1][2] atau semi-hijau.[2] Daunnya bersifat seperti kulit dan bunganya tidak memiliki kelopak.[1][2]

Etimologi dan penamaan

Sycopsis berasal dari bahasa Yunani dan berarti 'mirip ara' karena orang yang menamai genus ini, Daniel Oliver, menganggap penampilannya menyerupai Ficus yang berbentuk semak.[4]

Nama vernakular Tionghoa untuk genus ini adalah 水丝梨属 (Shuǐ sī lí shǔ).[1]
