Turonium

Turonium adalah tahap kedua dari kala Kapur Akhir, yang dimulai pada 93.9 juta tahun lalu, hingga 89.8 juta tahun lalu. Subkala ini ditentukan dengan kronostratigrafi, dan sudah memiliki GSSP (Global Boundary Stratotype Sections and Points).[1] Dimulainya subkala ini ditandai dengan peristiwa anoksik perbatasan Senomanium-Turonium, yang di mana lautan mengalami penurunan kadar oksigen selama hampir 500 ribu tahun, yang membawa akhir untuk genus Pliosaurus, kebanyakan spesies Ichthyosaurus, serta 27% spesies invertebrata laut,[2] dengan foraminifera planktonik terkena dampak yang paling besar seiring meluasnya zona rendah oksigen.[3]
