Zenaida adalah sebuah genus merpati asal Amerika. Terdapat 7 spesies di dalamnya:

Analisis urutan DNA[2] mengonfirmasi bahawa merpati sayap putih dan peru barat bukan jenis yang sama, dan seharusnya dianggap sebagai spesiesnya masing-masing. Kekerabatan antara spesies-spesies lain juga cukup tegas; apa yang masih belum jelas adalah apakah merpati galapagos berkerabat dekat dengan merpati zenaida (secara sementara dikerabatkan melalui morfologi) atau merpati bertelinga dan duka (seperti yang disimpulkan oleh analisis susunan DNA — meskipun keyakinannya amat rendah - dan secara kuatnya didukung oleh biogeografi). Nama genus ini demikian untuk memperingati Zénaïde Laetitia Julie Bonaparte, istri ahli ornitologi Perancis, Charles Lucien Bonaparte dan anak saudara Napoleon Bonaparte.[3]
