Der alte deutsche Vorname Adelinde ist zusammengesetzt aus althochdeutsch adal „vornehm, edel“ und lind „sanft, mild“.[1] Der zweite Bestandteil kann auch von althochdeutsch linta „Schild aus Lindenholz“ beeinflusst sein.[2]
