Alox ist eine Gattung der Krabben innerhalb der Familie der Kugelkrabben (Leucosiidae) mit 14 Arten.[1] Sie besiedeln die Gezeitenzone und Schelf in Tiefen zwischen 0 und 200 m in der gemäßigten Klimazone des Nordwestpazifiks sowie im westlichen und zentralen Indopazifik.[2]
Merkmale
Die Gattung Alox hat die Merkmale der Ebaliinae. Der Carapax wird bis zu 14 mm lang, ist annähernd oval und 1,2- bis 1,7-mal so breit wie lang. Die Rückenfläche ist rau mit zahlreichen pilzförmigen Körnern und Vertiefungen. Parallel zum Rand verläuft eine Rinne, die mit Körnern angefüllt ist. Die Augenhöhle ist zur Mitte hin von der Antennulengrube durch das unbewegliche Basalglied der Antenne getrennt. Die Antennulengrube wird vollständig von der Basis der Antennule ausgefüllt. Hinter der Augenhöhle liegt ein Paar von Auswüchsen. Die Stirn ist schmal und mäßig nach oben gebogen. Die Seitenränder sind zur Seite erweitert und haben manchmal einen Saum. Das Endostom reicht über den Einströmkanal der Kiemenkammer hinaus. Die Finger der Scheren (Chela) sind etwa 1,5-mal so lang wie der Propodus. Bei Männchen sind der dritte bis fünfte Somit des Pleons verschmolzen. Das erste Gonopodium ist 1,6- bis 4,3-mal so lang wie das zweite.[2]
