Burr Point, Irlands östlichster Punkt (2007)

Burr Point (irisch An Bior, deutsch etwa „Der Stachel“) ist der östlichste Punkt auf dem Festland der Insel Irland.

Lage

Er befindet sich im nordirischen Distrikt Ards and North Down auf der Halbinsel Ards etwa 2 km südöstlich des Dorfes Ballyhalbert.[1]

Noch weiter östlich, etwa 4 km vor der Küste und gut 10 km südöstlich von Burr Point gibt es im Nordkanal, nördlich der Irischen See, einen aus dem Wasser ragenden Felsen, den Cannon Rock (54° 24′ 28,7″ N, 5° 21′ 59,6″ W), der den östlichsten Punkt ganz Irlands darstellt.
