Capsidiol ist eine chemische Verbindung aus der Gruppe der Sesquiterpene.

Vorkommen

Capsidiol kommt natürlich in Tabakpflanzen (Nicotiana tabacum), Paprika (Capsicum annuum) und weiteren Solanaceae vor. Die Verbindung wird bei den Pflanzen nur bei einer durch Pilzbefall hervorgerufenen Stresssituation freigesetzt, es ist ein Phytoalexin.[2][4][5] Die Verbindung wurde 1972 zuerst durch Albert Stoessl, C. H. Unwin und E. W. B. Ward aus Capsicum frutescens isoliert.[6]

Gewinnung und Darstellung

Die Biosynthese von Capsidiol besteht im ersten Schritt in der Cyclisierung von Farnesylpyrophosphat zu 5-epi-Aristolochen. Diese Reaktion wird durch ein Sesquiterpen-Cyclase-Enzym katalysiert.[7][8]

Eigenschaften

Capsidiol ist ein farbloser Feststoff,[1] der praktisch unlöslich in Wasser ist und fungizide Eigenschaften besitzt.[2][9] Er besitzt eine orthorhombische Kristallstruktur mit der Raumgruppe P212121 (Raumgruppen-Nr. 19)Vorlage:Raumgruppe/19 und den Gitterparametern a = 16,043 + 0,002, b = 12,406 + 0,002 und c = 6,968 + 0,003 Å.[1]
