Carupa ist eine Gattung der Schwimmkrabben mit zwei Arten.[1] Sie besiedeln die Gezeitenzone und den Schelf in Tiefen zwischen 0 und 100 m im Indopazifik. Sie halten sich vorzugsweise in Spalten in Korallenriffen, im Korallenschutt und in Unterwasserhöhlen auf.[2]

Merkmale

Der Carapax ist bis zu 38 mm lang und queroval. Die Stirn ist vierlappig und ragt kaum nach vorn. Der vordere Seitenrand ist mit sieben Zähnen bewehrt. Das basale Antennenglied ist länger als breit. Der Innenrand des Carpus des Scherenbeine trägt einen deutlichen Dorn, der Merus Dornen am Vorderrand. Die Finger sind kräftig und haben stumpfe Zähne an den Kontakträndern. Propodus und Dayctylus des letzten Schreitbeins sind oval bis lanzettförmig.[2]
