Chasmocarcinus ist eine Gattung mariner Krabben mit zehn Arten.[1] Sie besiedeln die Region zwischen tiefer Gezeitenzone (subtidal) und Kontinentalhang in Tiefen zwischen 9 und 1967 m im tropischen Westatlantik im östlichen Indopazifik und in der gemäßigten Klimazone Südamerikas.[2]
Merkmale
Der Carapax wird bis zu 9,5 mm lang. Die Unterseite des Merus der Scherenbeine ist ohne Zähne. Der fixierte Finger der kleineren Schere hat viele kleine Zähne, aber keine Randborsten. Die Meri der ersten beiden Schreitbeine tragen Höcker, aber keine Zähne. Das zweite Gonopodium hat zwei Drittel der Länge des ersten oder ist genauso lang wie dieses.[2]
