Demania ist eine Gattung der Rundkrabben mit 17 rezenten Arten.[1] Sie besiedeln die Gezeitenzone, den Schelf und den Kontinentalhang in Tiefen zwischen 0 und 780 Metern im Indopazifik.[2]
Merkmale
Der Carapax wird maximal 75 mm lang und 1,1- bis 1,5-mal so breit. Er ist glatt bis grobkörnig. Die Regionen sind deutlich abgegrenzt. Die Stirn ist einrandig. Der vordere Seitenrand ist mit vier breiten Lappen oder Zähnen bewehrt. Die Scherenbeine sind bei Männchen ungleich groß. Das erste Gonopodium ist länglich, leicht gebogen und vor dem Ende an einem Rand mit einer Reihe langer Borsten und am anderen Rand mit einigen kleinen Dornen besetzt.[2]
