Dromidia ist eine Gattung ursprünglicher Krabben (Brachyura) innerhalb der Familie der Schwammkrabben (Dromiidae) mit fünf Arten.[1] Sie bewohnen den Schelf und Kontinentalhang in Tiefen bis 360 m im gemäßigten und tropischen Atlantik und im gemäßigten südlichen Afrika.[2]

Merkmale

Dromidia wird bis zu 80 mm lang. Der Carapax ist breiter als lang, queroval und mit einem Oberflächenrelief. Die drei Lappen des Rostrums sind kurz und dreieckig, der vordere Seitenrand ist Zähnen bewaffnet. Der vierte thorakale Sternit wird nach vorn schmaler, die Episterniten haben eine abgerundete Spitze, vordere und seitliche Abschnitte sind durch eine tiefe Eindellung getrennt. Der Finger des letzten Schreitbeins hat am Außenrand keinen Dorn. Die Uropoden sind als rückenseitige Platte sichtbar. Die Scherenbeine haben einen Epipodit.[2]
