Elizabeth Ellery Bailey geb. Raymond (* 26. November 1938 in New York City; † 19. August 2022 in Reston/Virginia) war eine US-amerikanische Ökonomin und Hochschullehrerin.^[1]

Elizabeth Bailey studierte Wirtschaftswissenschaft am Radcliffe College und erwarb dort 1960 den Bachelorgrad. Anschließend arbeitete sie als Programmiererin auf dem Gebiet der Elektronischen Datenverarbeitung bei den Bell Laboratories. Am Stevens Institute of Technology legte sie 1966 eine Magisterprüfung in Computer Science ab. Im Jahre 1972 promovierte sie zum Ph.D. an der Princeton University als erste Frau in diesem Fach in Princeton.^[2] Von 1973 bis 1977 war sie dann außerordentliche Professorin an der New York University. Von 1977 bis 1983 gehörte sie in führender Funktion dem Civil Aeronautics Board der USA an, da sie sich intensiv wissenschaftlich mit den Fluggesellschaften beschäftigte. Von 1983 bis 1991 war sie Professorin an der Carnegie-Mellon University und schließlich von 1991 bis 2005 an der University of Pennsylvania. Im Jahre 1997 wurde sie Mitglied der American Academy of Arts and Sciences. 2009 erhielt sie den Carolyn Shaw Bell Award. Außerdem wirkte sie in zahlreichen staatlichen Gremien und wissenschaftlichen Fachgesellschaften.

In ihren Veröffentlichungen beschäftigte sich Elizabeth Bailey hauptsächlich mit der Deregulierung bzw. Privatisierung im Luftverkehr und der Luftfahrtindustrie.
