Die Exoristinae bilden die artenreichste der 4 Unterfamilien der Raupenfliegen (Tachinidae). Die Exoristinae sind morphologisch weniger vielfältig als die Tachininae.[1]
Taxonomie
Neuere phylogenetische Studien kommen zu dem Schluss, dass die Exoristinae eine polyphyletische Gruppe darstellen und es entsprechend noch zu Umgruppierungen innerhalb der Tachinidae kommen wird.[2] Die Unterfamilie umfasst nach O’Hara et al. (2020) etwa 584 Gattungen mit etwa 3690 Arten.[3] Dies entspricht etwa 43 Prozent der Gesamtartenzahl der Tachinidae.[3]
Verbreitung
Die Unterfamilie Exoristinae ist kosmopolitisch verbreitet.[3]
Lebensweise
Die Exoristinae sind Endoparasitoide. Zu den Wirten gehören hauptsächlich Schmetterlingsraupen. Weitere bekannte Wirte sind adulte Käfer sowie reife Larven von Buschhornblattwespen. Es finden sich unter den Exoristinae einige Gruppen, die unreife Eier ablegen, die meisten Larven schlüpfen aber schon kurz nach der Eiablage.[3]

Die Unterfamilie Exoristinae wird in folgende 11 Tribus gegliedert (O’Hara et al. (2020)):[3]

- Anacamptomyiini – 6 Gattungen
- Blondeliini – 167 Gattungen
- Eryciini – 128 Gattungen
- Ethillini – 13 Gattungen
- Euthelairini – 10 Gattungen
- Exoristini – 22 Gattungen
- Goniini – 204 Gattungen
- Masiphyini – 14 Gattungen
- Thrixionini – 1 Gattung
- Winthemiini – 11 Gattungen
Weiterhin gibt es eine Gattung ohne Tribuszuordnung:[3]
