R1 und R2 sind organische Reste (Alkyl, Aryl o. ä.) oder Wasserstoffatome.

Formamide sind eine Stoffgruppe der organischen Chemie. Sie umfasst Formamid, das Carbonsäureamid der Ameisensäure sowie weitere Vertreter, bei denen eines oder beide der Wasserstoffatome der Aminogruppe gegen andere Reste ausgetauscht sind, beispielsweise Dimethylformamid. Austausch des Wasserstoffatoms am Kohlenstoffatom ergibt jedoch Amide anderer Carbonsäuren beziehungsweise Kohlensäurederivate.

Herstellung

Formamide können durch Umsetzung von vielen Aminen mit Ameisensäureestern gewonnen werden. Eine andere Möglichkeit ist die Herstellung aus Aminen und Chloral mit Chloroform als Nebenprodukt. Auch eine direkte Reaktion von Aminen mit Ameisensäure oder mit Ameisensäureessigsäureanhydrid, gegebenenfalls in situ hergestellt aus Ameisensäure und Acetanhydrid, ist möglich.[1] Eine einfache und breit anwendbare Synthese aus Aminen nutzt Phenylformiat.[2]

N-Arylformamide sind durch Hydrocarbonylierung von Nitroaromaten zugänglich.[3] Amine können auch durch oxidative Formylierung in Formamide überführt werden, wobei als Quelle der Formylgruppe beispielsweise Methanol oder Formaldehyd dient und zusätzlich ein Oxidationsmittel zum Einsatz kommt.[4]

In der Ritter-Reaktion werden aus Alkenen oder tertiären Alkoholen und Nitrilen zu Carbonsäureamide gewonnen. Wird statt eines Nitrils Cyanwasserstoff eingesetzt, entsteht ein Formamid. Dies dient aber insbesondere der Herstellung von Aminen durch Hydrolyse des Formamids.[5.1]

Reaktionen

Formamide dienen als Edukte in Bouveault-Aldehyd-Synthese, bei der sie mit einer Grignard-Verbindung zu einem Aldehyd umgesetzt werden.[6] Durch Dehydratisierung mit dem Burgess-Reagenz können Formamide in Isonitrile überführt werden.[5][5.2]
