Garrison Library

Die Garrison Library (deutsch Garnisonsbibliothek) wurde 1793 in Gibraltar von Kapitän (später Oberst) John Drinkwater Bethune gegründet.

Der Bibliotheksbau, der während der spanischen Besatzung Gibraltars an der Stelle der ehemaligen Gouverneursresidenz errichtet wurde, wurde 1804 vom Herzog von Kent offiziell eröffnet. Die Sammlung, die heute über 45.000 Bücher sowie viele Lithografien und Kunstdrucke beherbergt, hat die Schwerpunkte Kultur, Reisen und Lokalgeschichte.[1] Ihr Sitz befindet sich in 2 Library Ramp, Gibraltar.
