Geograpsus ist eine Gattung der Quadratkrabben mit drei rezenten Arten.[1] Es handelt sich um terrestrisch, oberhalb der Küstenlinie lebende Krabben, die im Bereich des Indopazifiks vorkommen. Sie sind nachtaktiv.[2]

Merkmale

Der Carapax ist bis 40 mm lang und rundlich bis abgerundet rechteckig. Die Stirn ist schmal und ist etwa halb so breit wie der Carapax. Hinter dem Exorbitalzahn (am äußeren Augenhöhlenwinkel) tritt am vorderen Seitenrand ein weiterer Zahn auf. Der Merus des dritten Maxillipeden ist länger als breit. Die Scherenbeine sind kräftig und ihre Finger enden spitz.[2]
