IC 727 ist eine Spiralgalaxie vom Hubble-Typ Sb im Sternbild Löwe an der Ekliptik. Sie ist schätzungsweise 260 Millionen Lichtjahre von der Milchstraße entfernt und hat einen Durchmesser von etwa 125.000 Lichtjahren. Die Entfernungsmessungen basierend auf den Radialgeschwindigkeiten stimmen nicht mit den rotverschiebungsunabhängigen Entfernungsschätzungen von 345 ± 31 Millionen Lichtjahren überein.

Im selben Himmelsareal befinden sich u. a. die Galaxien NGC 3820, NGC 3833, NGC 3839, NGC 3869.

Das Objekt wurde am 23. April 1892 vom französischen Astronomen Stéphane Javelle entdeckt.[4]
