Die ISO-Norm ISO 4074 (in Deutschland als DIN-Norm DIN EN ISO 4074 veröffentlicht) ist eine internationale Norm für Kondome aus Naturkautschuklatex. Sie legt Anforderungen an Konstruktion, Qualität, Verpackung sowie Prüfverfahren fest und gilt als die maßgebliche internationale Referenznorm für Latexkondome.[1]

Die Norm wird von Herstellern, Prüflaboratorien, Beschaffungsorganisationen und Aufsichtsbehörden als Grundlage für die Qualitätsbewertung von Kondomen verwendet.[2]

Geschichte

ISO 4074 wurde entwickelt, um weltweit einheitliche Anforderungen an die Sicherheit und Leistungsfähigkeit von Latexkondomen zu schaffen. Die Norm wurde mehrfach überarbeitet, um neue Erkenntnisse aus Werkstoffkunde, Qualitätssicherung und Prüftechnik zu berücksichtigen. Die Ausgabe von 2026 ersetzte die Fassung ISO 4074:2015.[3]

Ziel ist die Sicherstellung einer reproduzierbaren Produktqualität sowie die Verringerung des Risikos von Materialversagen während der Anwendung.[4]

Bedeutung

ISO 4074 gilt als zentrale technische Grundlage für nationale Beschaffungsprogramme und internationale Gesundheitsorganisationen. Die Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) und der Bevölkerungsfonds der Vereinten Nationen (UNFPA) übernehmen die Leistungsanforderungen der Norm in ihre eigenen Beschaffungs- und Qualitätssicherungsprogramme für Kondome.[5]

Im Rahmen internationaler Gesundheitsprogramme werden Kondome regelmäßig nach den in ISO 4074 festgelegten Prüfverfahren untersucht. Prüfstellen müssen hierfür häufig zusätzlich nach ISO/IEC 17025 akkreditiert sein.[6]
