Die Intact Financial Corporation ist ein Anbieter von Sach- und Unfallversicherungen in Kanada und ein globaler Spezialversicherer.[1] Das Unternehmen mit Hauptsitz in Toronto firmierte bis 2009 unter dem Namen ING Canada Inc..[2]

Geschichte

Die Historie des Unternehmens geht auf das Jahr 1809 zurück, als es als Halifax Fire Insurance Association in Nova Scotia gegründet wurde. Im Laufe des 20. Jahrhunderts wuchs das Unternehmen durch zahlreiche Fusionen und Übernahmen. Prägend war der Einstieg des niederländischen Versicherers Nationale-Nederlanden in den 1950er Jahren, woraus 1993 die Konsolidierung unter dem Namen ING Canada hervorging. Nach dem Börsengang im Jahr 2004[3] trennte sich die ING Group 2009 von ihren Anteilen, was die Umbenennung in Intact Financial Corporation ermöglichte.

Es folgten weitere Akquisitionen, wie die Übernahme der RSA Insurance Group mit der Tryg im Jahr 2021 für rund 12 Milliarden US-Dollar.[4][5]
