Der Name ist die weibliche portugiesische und spanische Form von Hyacinthus.[1] Dieser Name wiederum ist die latinisierte Form des griechischen Names Υακινθος (Hyakinthos), welcher aus der griechischen Mythologie abgeleitet und Namensgeber der Pflanze Hyazinthe ist.[2]
