Kangding Ray (* 1978; eigentlich: David Letellier) ist ein französischer Musiker, DJ und Musikproduzent.

Letellier schloss ein Studium an der École nationale supérieure d’architecture de Bretagne ab. Er spielte zunächst als Gitarrist in verschiedenen Rockgruppen. 2001 zog er nach Berlin.

2006 erschien auf dem Label Raster-Noton sein Debütalbum Stabil. Kurz vor der Veröffentlichung wählte er seinen Künstlernamen in Anlehnung an die chinesische Stadt Kangding. Er ist Gründer des Plattenlabels ara.

Auszeichnungen

2022 war er für die Musik zu dem Spielfilm Wann kommst Du meine Wunden küssen? für den Rolf-Hans Müller Preis für Filmmusik nominiert. Für den Soundtrack zum Spielfilm Sirāt erhielt er 2025 bei den Filmfestspielen von Cannes den Cannes Soundtrack Award und ist für einen Golden Globe nominiert.
