Leptuca ist eine Gattung der Ocypodoidea mit 31 rezenten Arten.[1] Sie bewohnen Flussmündungen und die Gezeitenzone im tropischen Westatlantik und tropischen Ostpazifik.[2]

Merkmale

Der Carapax ist bis zu 25 mm breit und hat bis zu zwei hinten-seitliche Streifen (Striae). Die Stirn ist breit, der vordere Seitenrand kurz. Die rückenseitige Kante der Augenhöhle ist breit. Die Außenfläche des Propodus der größeren Schere bei Männchen ist glatt. Der Unterrand des feststehenden Fingers (Dactylus) ist manchmal kielartig. Das erste Gonopodium ist am Ende leicht gebogen, der „Daumen“ am Ende ist klein oder fehlt. Die Magenmühle (siehe auch Krabben#Verdauungssystem) hat an der Basis der hinteren Zahnplatte zwei große bräunliche Borsten.[2]
