Metaplax ist eine Gattung der Krabben aus der Familie Varunidae mit zwölf Arten.[1] Sie besiedeln Flussmündungen und Gezeitenzone im westlichen und zentralen Indopazifik.[2]

Merkmale

Der Carapax ist bis zu 18 mm lang, breiter als lang und sechseckig. Er ist in der Leberregion am breitesten. Die Stirn ist kurz, nur etwa so lang wie ein Augenstiel. Der vordere Seitenrand ist konvex und hinter dem Exorbitalzahn (am äußeren Augenwinkel) mit zwei bis vier Zähnen bewehrt.[2]

Die Gattung umfasst die folgenden rezenten Arten:[1]
