Micippa ist eine Gattung der Dreieckskrabben mit zehn Arten.[1] Sie besiedeln die Gezeitenzone und den Schelf in Tiefen zwischen 0 und 100 m im Indopazifik und in der gemäßigten Klimazone Australiens.[2]

Merkmale

Der Carapax ist bis zu 36 mm lang, längsoval und mit Höckern und Dornen bedeckt. Das Rostrum (mittiger Stirnfortsatz) besteht aus zwei breiten, flachen Dornenplatten, die mindestens in den ersten zwei Dritteln verschmolzen sind. Der obere Augenhöhlenvorsprung ist vom hinter der Augenhöhle gelegenen (postorbitalen) Dorn durch eine Naht abgegrenzt, der vordere Augenhöhlenwinkel ist quadratisch. Der präorbitale (vor der Augenhöhle gelegene) Dorn ist stumpf. Der Leber- und der Kiemenrand sind höckerig.[2]

Systematik

Die Gattung wird nach dem World Register of Marine Species in die Unterfamilie Majinae der Majidae eingeordnet,[1] Gary C. B. Poore und Shane T. Ahyong stellen sie dagegen zu den Epialtidae.[2] Sie umfasst folgende rezente Arten:[1]

Synonyme sind Lophomicippa Rathbun, 1907, Micippe Leach, 1817, Paramicippa H. Milne Edwards, 1834 und Paramicippe H. Milne Edwards, 1834.[1]
