Mtenga ist ein Verwaltungsbezirk (englisch Ward) des Distrikts Nkasi in der tansanischen Region Rukwa.

Geografie

Mtenga ist ein gemischter Bezirk im Westen des südlichen Hochlands von Tansania, er liegt etwa 80 Kilometer Luftlinie nordwestlich der Regionshauptstadt Sumbawanga. Bei der Volkszählung 2022 lebten 14.291 Menschen in 2844[2] Haushalten auf einer Fläche von 163 Quadratkilometern.[3]

Der Bezirk grenzt an vier Bezirke des Distrikts Nkasi:[4]

Der Bezirk besteht aus vier Orten (Kitongoji):[5]

  • Mtenga
  • Mtenga B
  • Mwai
  • Matala

Wirtschaft und Infrastruktur

  • Bodenschätze: In Mtenga werden Diamanten, Granate und Amethyste gefunden.[6]
  • Bildung: Die Mtenga Secondary School[7] und die Mashete Secondary School[8] sind zwei staatliche weiterführende Schulen mit einer Ausbildung bis zur 4. Stufe.
  • Gesundheit: In den Orten Mtenga,[9] Mwai[10] und Matala[11] liegt je eine staatliche Apotheke.
