NGC 144 ist eine Spiralgalaxie vom Hubble-Typ Sc mit ausgedehnten Sternentstehungsgebieten im Sternbild Walfisch südlich der Ekliptik. Sie ist schätzungsweise 365 Millionen Lichtjahre von der Milchstraße entfernt und hat einen Durchmesser von etwa 85.000 Lichtjahren. Vermutlich bildet sie gemeinsam mit NGC 142 und NGC 143 ein gravitativ gebundenes Galaxientrio.

Das Objekt wurde im Jahr 1886 von dem US-amerikanischen Astronomen Frank Muller entdeckt.[4]
