NGC 39 ist eine spiralförmige Radiogalaxie vom Hubble-Typ Sc im Sternbild Andromeda am Nordsternhimmel. Sie ist schätzungsweise 225 Millionen Lichtjahre von der Milchstraße entfernt und hat einen Durchmesser von etwa 80.000 Lichtjahren. Vom Sonnensystem aus entfernt sich die Galaxie mit einer errechneten Radialgeschwindigkeit von näherungsweise 4.900 Kilometern pro Sekunde.

Sie gilt als Teil der 18 Mitglieder zählenden Lyons Groups of Galaxies LGG 1 um NGC 7831.

Das Objekt wurde am 2. November 1790 von dem deutsch-britischen Astronomen Wilhelm Herschel entdeckt.[5]
