NGC 5301 ist eine Spiralgalaxie vom Hubble-Typ SBc im Sternbild Jagdhunde. Sie ist schätzungsweise 71 Millionen Lichtjahre von der Milchstraße entfernt.

Das Objekt wurde am 11. Mai 1787 von Wilhelm Herschel mit einem 18,7-Zoll-Spiegelteleskop entdeckt,[3] der sie dabei mit „F, mE 15 degrees sp-nf, lbM, 4′ long, 0.75′ broad“[4] beschrieb.
