Notosceles ist eine Gattung der Krabben-Familie Raninidae mit sechs rezenten Arten. Zudem gibt es eine, nur fossil nachgewiesene Art.[1] Die rezenten Arten besiedeln den Schelf und den Kontinentalhang in Tiefen zwischen 50 und 450 m in der gemäßigten Klimazone des Nordwestpazifiks, im Indopazifik, im tropischen Ostpazifik und in der gemäßigten Klimazone Australasiens.[2]

Merkmale

Der Carapax wird bis zu 23 mm lang und hat einen vorn-seitlichen, aber keinen seitlichen Dorn. Der erste Somit des Pleons ist so breit wie der Hinterrand des Carapax. Der Oberrand des Propodus der Scherenbeine hat einen doppelten Kiel. Das letzte Schreitbein ist deutlich kürzer und schlanker als die drei ersten.[2]
