Opecarcinus ist eine Gattung der Gallkrabben mit 10 Arten.[1] Sie bewohnen Gezeitenzone und Schelf in Tiefen bis zu 82 m im tropischen Atlantik und Indopazifik.[2] Sie sind obligate Symbionten bei Steinkorallen.[3]

Merkmale

Opecarcinus wird bis zu 4 mm lang. Der Carapax ist vasenförmig und im hinteren Teil am breitesten. Die vordere Verlängerung des vierten thorakalen Sterniten trägt Höcker. Die Meri der Schreitbeine (P2 bis P5) können kleine Zähnchen aufweisen, der des P2 ist am Ende innenseitig erweitert und überlappt die Basis des Carapax oder innerer und äußerer Rand sind gleich und überlappen den Carapax nicht.[2]
