Palicus ist eine Gattung mariner Krabben mit 24 Arten.[1] Die Vertreter bewohnen die tiefe Gezeitenzone, den Schelf und den Kontinentalhang in Tiefen zwischen 7 und 686 m in der gemäßigten Klimazone des Nordatlantiks, im tropischen Atlantik einschließlich des Mittelmeers sowie im tropischen Ostpazifik.[2]
Merkmale
Der Carapax ist bis zu 13 mm lang und etwa quadratisch. Der vordere Seitenrand ist mit zwei oder drei großen flachen Zähnen bewaffnet. Der obere Augenhöhlenrand weist zwei V-förmige Einschnitte auf. Die Augenstiele sind höckerig, die Cornea ist breiter als die Augenstiele. Die Carpi und Propodi der ersten drei Schreitbeinpaare sind abgeflacht, die Meri sind entlang der Ränder mit ungleich großen Höckern oder Zähnen besetzt. Propodus und Finger sind glatt. Das Pleon der Männchen ist dreieckig oder hat parallele Ränder.[2]
