Periclistus ist eine Gattung in der Familie Cynipidae (Gallwespen). Das Taxon wurde 1869 von Arnold Förster eingeführt. Typusart ist Aylax caninae Hartig, 1840. Die Gattung wird der 2015 neu eingeführten Tribus Diastrophini zugeordnet.[1] Zuvor wurde sie der Tribus Synergini zugeordnet.[2]
Merkmale
Die taxonomische Einordnung der Arten der Gattung Periclistus wurde in den letzten Jahren mit Hilfe phylogenetischer Ergebnisse verfeinert. Pang et al. (2020) grenzen die Gattung zu verwandten Gattungen in der Ostpaläarktis mit folgenden Merkmalen ab: Vertex (Scheitel) und Mesoscutum (Rückenplatte) sind leicht bis grob lederartig, aber immer vollständig punktiert und behaart.[1] Die Mesopleuren weisen meist Längsstreifen auf und sind gelegentlich glänzend glatt.[1]
Lebensweise
Die Vertreter der Gattung Periclistus sind Inquiline in Rosengallen der Gattungen Diplolepis und Liebelia aus der Familie Diplolepididae.[1] Sie legen ihre Brutzellen in den Gallen anderer Gallwespenartiger an, wobei sie üblicherweise die Larven der ursprünglichen Gallerzeuger töten oder verdrängen. Aus von Periclistus brandtii bewohnten Diplolepis mayri-Rosengallen schlüpften neben den Periclistus-Gallwespen auch die Erzwespen-Art Eurytoma rosae sowie die Schlupfwespen-Art Orthopelma mediator.

Die Gattung Periclistus umfasst etwa 15 gültige Arten, deren Verbreitungsgebiet sich über die Holarktis erstreckt.[1]
