Petit-Rocher ist ein Ort und eine ehemalige Gemeinde (Village) in der kanadischen Provinz New Brunswick/Nouveau-Brunswick. Petit-Rocher ist heute Teil der Gemeinde Belle-Baie.
Lage
Petit-Rocher liegt im Norden der Provinz an der Küste der Chaleur-Bucht 20 km nordnordwestlich von Bathurst. Nördlich von Petit-Rocher liegt Pointe-Verte, südlich Nigadoo. Petit-Rocher gehört zum historischen County Gloucester.
Verkehr
Die Überlandstraße Route 134 (Bathurst–Campbellton) führt an Petit-Rocher vorbei. Die Route 315 verbindet Petit-Rocher mit der weiter westlich verlaufenden Route 11.
Einwohner
Die Einwohnerzahl lag beim Zensus 2021 bei 1954.[1] Beim Zensus 2016 lag die Zahl bei 1897, beim Zensus 2011 bei 1908.[1] Die Gemeindefläche betrug 4,52 km².[1]
Geschichte
Petit-Rocher geht auf eine ländliche Siedlung aus dem Jahr 1850 zurück.[2] Seit 1877 gibt es das Postamt „Petit-Rocher“.[2] 1871 lebten etwa 250 Menschen in Petit-Rocher.[2] Petit-Rocher hatte 1898 einen Bahnhof der Intercolonial Railway.[2] Damals betrug die Einwohnerzahl 1100.[2]
1966 wurde die Gemeinde (Village) Petit-Rocher gegründet.[2] Im Rahmen der Gemeindereform am 1. Januar 2023 wurde Petit-Rocher Teil der neu gegründeten Gemeinde Belle-Baie.[3]
