Pinnotheres ist eine Gattung der Krabbenfamilie Pinnotheridae mit 28 rezenten Arten.[1] Sie bewohnen die Gezeitenzone und den Schelf in Tiefen zwischen 0 und 150 m in der gemäßigten Klimazone des Nordatlantiks, im tropischen Atlantik, in der gemäßigten Klimazone des Nordwestpazifiks, im westlichen und zentralen Indopazifik sowie in der gemäßigten Klimazone im Süden Afrikas und Australasiens. Sie sind Kommensalen bei Muscheln.[2]
Merkmale
Der Carapax ist etwas breiter als lang und bei Weibchen rundlich. Der Dactylus des dritten Maxillipeden ist fingerförmig und setzt vor der Mitte des Propodus an. Die Finger der Schreitbeine sind einander ähnlich. Das zweite Schreitbein ist das längste und länger als der Carapax. Alle Somiten des Pleons und das Telson sind bei Männchen frei beweglich. Das erste Gonopodium ist am Ende im nahezu rechtem Winkel scharf abgebogen.[2]

Die Arten Pinnotheres araucanus Philippi, 1887 †, Pinnotheres elatus A. Milne-Edwards, 1873 † und Pinnotheres promaucanus Philippi, 1887 † sind nur fossil bekannt.[1]
Synonyme sind Pinnoteres Bosc, 1801, Pinnothera Bosc, 1801 und Pinnozoea Aikawa, 1933.[1]
