Christian Sauerteig verglich es in der PC Action direkt mit Colin McRae Rally 2.0 und sah es als das knapp bessere Produkt an aufgrund der Grafik, dem Fahrmodell und der Fahrphysik.[2] Rüdiger Steidle hingegen entschied in der PC Games, dass Pro Rally 2001 dem Spiel von Codemasters knapp unterlegen sei, da dort Tuningmöglichkeiten umfangreicher und das Fahrgefühl besser seien.[3] Für Udo Hoffmann von der PC Player setze Pro Rally 2001 durchaus Maßstäbe bei Grafik und Streckenverlauf. Bei Details wie dem Motorengeräusch, dem zu einfachen Schadensmodell und dem Fahrverhalten offenbare es Schwächen.[4]
