Suvla ist eine Bucht im Westen der Halbinsel Gallipoli in der Türkei.

Die Landung in der Bucht von Suvla und der darauf folgende Angriff war 1915 der letzte größere Versuch beim Gefecht bei Sarı Bayır, der August-Offensive der Briten, die Kontrolle über die Halbinsel Gallipoli zu übernehmen. Suvla spielte in der Schlacht von Gallipoli eine wichtige Rolle bei der Verteidigung der Halbinsel durch die Türken.

Der Name der Bucht Suvla war während der 1970er Jahre erneut ein Thema in der Öffentlichkeit, als Eric Bogle 1972 seinen Folksong And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda veröffentlichte.

Im Irischen Rebellenlied „The Foggy Dew“ wird die Bucht erwähnt. Sie steht symbolisch für die Schlachten, in der irische Männer fielen, die deshalb bei der Befreiung des irischen Vaterlandes nicht an der Seite der IRA gegen die britischen Besatzer kämpfen konnten. („Their lonely graves are by Suvla’s waves or the fringe of the great North Sea. Oh, had they died by Pearse’s side or fought with Cathal Brugha Their graves we’d keep where the Fenians sleep, ‘neath the shroud of the Foggy Dew.“)[1]
