Unter Telefonterror versteht man umgangssprachlich das systematische Belästigen von Mitmenschen durch Telefonanrufe, also über vereinzelte Telefonstreiche hinaus. Insbesondere fallen darunter die sexuelle Belästigung über das Telefon („Erotophonie“), das beharrliche Belästigen einer bestimmten Person aus anderen privaten Motiven (Stalking) und unerwünschte telefonische Werbung. Von Telefonterror kann auch gesprochen werden, wenn technische Geräte wie Alarmmelder in Aufzügen oder Wählautomaten, falsche Nummern wiederholt und zu unpassenden Zeiten wählen.[1]
