Tide Head ist ein Ort und eine ehemalige Gemeinde (Village) in der kanadischen Provinz New Brunswick/Nouveau-Brunswick. Tide Head ist heute Teil der Stadt (City) Campbellton.
Lage
Tide Head befindet sich im äußersten Norden der Provinz. Der Ort liegt im historischen County Restigouche. Tide Head liegt 6,8 km westsüdwestlich von Campbellton am südlichen Flussufer des Restigouche River am Übergang zum gezeitenbeeinflußten Ästuar. Der Ortsname „Tide Head“ heißt übersetzt in etwa „Gezeitenkopf“. 4 km östlich von Tide Head befindet sich Atholville.
Verkehr
Die Route 134 durchquert Tide Head von Campbellton kommend und trifft im Westen von Tide Head auf die Route 11 (Campbellton–Provinz Québec).
Einwohner
Die Einwohnerzahl betrug beim Zensus 2021 951.[1] Beim Zensus 2016 lag die Zahl bei 938, beim Zensus 2011 bei 1036.[1] Die Gemeindefläche betrug vor der Auflösung 19,43 km².[1]
Geschichte
1873–1920 gab es das Postamt „Head of Tide“.[2] 1871 hatte Head of Tide 125 Einwohner.[2] 1898 war Head of Tide eine Ortschaft, die von Landwirtschaft, Holzwirtschaft und Fischerei lebte mit 150 Einwohnern.[2] Ab 1920 hieß das Postamt „Tide Head“.[2]
Die Gemeinde (Village) Tide Head wurde 1966 gegründet.[2] Bei der Gemeindereform 2023 wurde Tide Head nach Campbellton eingemeindet.[3]
