Las chaolas son un dulce típico del concello marinero de Cariño (A Coruña), especialmente preparado en la época de carnaval. Por su color y forma son a menudo confundidas con las orejas de carnaval, pero su sabor, textura y elaboración es diferente.

Ingredientes y elaboración

Las chaolas cariñesas llevan harina, huevos, azúcar, manteca de vaca (o, en su defecto, mantequilla), leche tibia, anís, levadura royal, levadura de panadero y una raspadura de limón. [1]​

Se prepara la masa mezclando todos los ingredientes y luego se amasa hasta que no se pegue en las manos, para posteriormente dejarla levedar. Cuando ya haya levedado, se estiran y se fríen a fuego medio. Finalmente, se debe espolvorear azúcar por encima.
