Microchloa es un género de plantas herbáceas perteneciente a la familia de las poáceas.[1]​ Es originario de la África tropical, la India y Ceilán.

Taxonomía

El género fue descrito por Robert Brown y publicado en Prodromus Florae Novae Hollandiae 208. 1810.[2]​ La especie tipo es: Microchloa setacea (Roxb.) R. Br.

Etimología

El nombre del género se deriva de las palabras griegas mikros (pequeños) y chloe (hierba).[1]​

Citología

Número de la base del cromosoma, x = 10. 2n = 40.[1]​
